Biblical Mandate to Train Leaders
Rehoboth students receive classroom and life experience training
The Bible provides a clear mandate to disciple believers and train leaders for the continuation of the Church until Jesus returns. The Apostle Paul expounds on this mandate in 2 Timothy 2:1-2:
“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
Here, Paul shows concern to the fourth generation, thus perpetuating the church through the future. As a spiritual son, Paul instructs young Timothy to teach his spiritual children and their spiritual children. This is idea is practical. in a lifetime a ministry will probably be able to touch 2-3 generations. However, by focusing on raising up leaders with a vision to train others the impact of a ministry will continue for many generations.
It is unfortunate that the modern church rarely has vision, time, or a plan to disciples believers - outside of church and Sunday School - let alone train leaders. Pastors in Africa often have to work a job, or run a business in addition to serving a pastor. Because of poverty in many of these areas, the pastor has to pay for most things in the church,, in addition to supporting some in the congregation.
It is for this reason Rehoboth was created. We know that Pastors rarely have time to train believers with a genuine call on their lives. Often, new leaders are trained then sent out or leave to start their own ministries. By offering to train the next generation - with the understanding that these trainees will come back to serve alongside the pastor in their home churcb for a period of time, is revolutionary in concept.
If you have a heart to see the Church of Jesus Christ thrive in the “last days,” reaching some of the most desperate people on earth, you should consider partnering with Rehoboth Ministries to reach needy areas in Uganda and Kenya.
